ကိုလံဘီယာဟာ သဘောတူတဲ့အတိုင်းလုပ်ရင် အမေရိကန်က အခွန်စည်းကြပ်မှု/စီးပွားရေးပိတ်ဆို့မှုတွေ လုပ်တော့မှာ မဟုတ်ဘူး ဆိုပါတယ်။

Indonesia central bank has room to cut rates further, governor says

INDONESIA’S central bank has room to cut interest rates further based on inflation and economic growth forecasts, but would monitor global dynamics and the movement of the rupiah exchange rate to determine future easing moves, its governor said.

Governor Perry Warjiyo told a press conference on Friday (Jan 24) he believed the rupiah would stabilise with a strengthening bias going forward, with the government’s new policy to make exporters retain foreign currency earnings for longer onshore expected to increase domestic US dollar supply.

The office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs has said the plan to make resource exporters keep all of their proceeds at home for at least a year could increase Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves by US$90 billion per year, even though some analysts said the figure was too optimistic.
“From inflation and economic growth perspective, there is room to cut interest rates. From the perspective of exchange rate, we’re aiming for stability,” said Warjiyo.

“The fundamentals, including the earnings retention rules, are giving support for (rupiah) stability. But the main problem is global dynamics, which we will have to monitor from time to time,” he added.

Bank Indonesia unexpectedly cut policy rates earlier this month, resuming an easing cycle it started in September to prop up growth in South-east Asia’s largest economy.
Warjiyo at the time has said BI would monitor for space to further support economic growth, signalling the easing cycle was not over. REUTERS

Union Construction Minister discusses collaboration with China on urban development

A Myanmar delegation, led by Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, who is in Chongqing, People’s Republic of China, met with the Vice Mayor and officials of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government on 21 January.
During the meeting, the Union Minister highlighted the 75-year diplomatic relations between Myanmar and China, discussed the Ministry of Construction’s efforts in balanced urban-rural development under the National Spatial Development Framework Plan, including the drafting and implementation of town plans and master plans for industrial zones, and expressed interest in exploring collaboration on urban development and modern technologies for road and bridge construction.
Then, the Vice Mayor Mr Jiang Duntao of Chongqing expressed strong support for China-Myanmar friendship, emphasizing the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government’s commitment to continued investment in Myanmar, including the construction sector, and outlined plans for the Myanmar delegation to meet Chinese construction investors and technology companies, as well as explore Chongqing and its surroundings.
Afterwards, the Union Minister visited the Commerce Department of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and met with Mr Zhang Yongwu, the Director-General of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, as well as officials from the Chongqing Municipal Foreign Affairs Department, the Urban Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, the Construction Commission, and business owners.
During the meeting, Mr Zhang Yongwu discussed the geographical situation of China and Myanmar, economic and infrastructure cooperation, and exchanged views with the Chinese officials and entrepreneurs, as well as the Myanmar entrepreneurs who attended.
During their visit to Chongqing and Shenzhen, the Union Minister and his team observed the construction and operation of expressways, bridge construction sites, urban roads with trees and flowery plants, pedestrian platforms, factories producing and distributing platform blocks, and urban and housing construction project sites. A military officer was given a 3-days leave to go and enjoy with his newly wedded wife. He arrived home and realised that his wife was in her monthly period!
He had to send an sos message to headquarters requesting for an extension of his leave days. He prepared his message in a usual military coded language.... He wrote;
