Business China forum to enhance collaboration in a multipolar world

AMID the evolving geopolitical landscape and global challenges, some 700 delegates will be meeting in Singapore for a one-day forum to discuss the theme “Strengthening Collaborations in a Multipolar World”.
The 15th edition of the FutureChina Global Forum (FCGF) is organised by non-profit organisation Business China and will be held on Oct 18 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat will be a guest of honour at the event and deliver the opening keynote speech. Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong will also attend the forum as a guest of honour and participate in a fireside chat.
Business China said the forum will feature leaders and academics as speakers, and will discuss regional economic cooperation, geopolitical developments, China’s policies, as well as the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on new business opportunities in Asia and the region.
Among these speakers are Ray Dalio, founder of the world’s largest hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates; Bi Jingquan, chairman of the China Centre for International Economic Exchanges; Frank Pieke, visiting research professor at the East Asian Institute of the National University of Singapore; and Zhang Hongjiang, founding chairman of the Beijing Academy of AI.
At a media roundtable on Thursday ahead of the forum, Business China chief executive officer Ho Chee Hin noted that there is a clear trend of more Chinese companies and entrepreneurs entering Singapore and Asean.
“They see Asean as a growing market for their investments and the growth in Asean is strong. I think that is a bright spot for our region,” he said.
The Business China Youth Forum will also take place concurrently with the FCGF, with the theme “Innovating for an Interconnected Tomorrow”. Senior Minister of State for Manpower and Sustainability and the Environment Koh Poh Koon is the guest of honour for the Youth Forum.
Topics such as AI’s impact on gaming, Asean’s youth leading sustainability efforts, as well as trends in youth consumerism will be explored.
