The federal government said that it is ending the national suicide hotline's specialized support for LGBTQ+ youth next month.
In a press release, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) — which falls under the Department of Health and Human Services — said the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline would close the LGBTQ+ Youth Specialized Services program on July 17.
Data shows more than 1.2 million LGBTQ+ people contacted 988 between July 2022 — the beginning of the new three-digit number for the national suicide hotline — and February 2025. https://abcnews.visitlink.me/V5qFxg
