President Trump signed a proclamation on Wednesday banning travel from 12 countries, citing national security concerns.
The travel ban results from a Jan. 20 executive order that Trump issued. The order required the departments of State and Homeland Security, as well as the Director of National Intelligence, to compile a report on “hostile attitudes” toward the U.S. and whether entry from certain countries represented a national security risk.
“I remain committed to engaging with those countries willing to cooperate to improve information-sharing and identity-management procedures, and to address both terrorism-related and public-safety risks," Trump wrote.
