Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced a curfew will take effect in protest-impacted parts of downtown Los Angeles beginning at 8 p.m. local time on Tuesday night.
The mayor emphasized the 1-square mile area was just a small part of the sprawling city.
Bass said the curfew will likely be in place for multiple nights.
"Law enforcement will arrest individuals who break the curfew, and you will be prosecuted," the mayor said.
